World Religions
After today’s class I was interested in how easy it is to practice the Islamic religion. Unlike other religions, such as Catholicism and Buddhism, Islam is relatively easy to practice due to its one teaching. The religion Islam teaches that if you just practice the five pillars you are being a devoted worshiper of Islam. The five pillars consist of faith or belief in the Oneness of God and the finality of the prophet-hood of Muhammad, the establishment of the daily prayers, the concern for and almsgiving to the needy, self-purification through fasting, and the pilgrimage to Makkah. With the completion of these of the Five Pillars you can be considered devoted to the Islamic faith.

It may seem easy to follow the pillars of faith but im sure its harder than it may seem. The devotion it must take to pray 5 times a day and follow all of the beliefs is amazing. I am Catholic but don't attend church very often, I couldn't imagine praying 5 times a day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with some parts of your blog. Although, I think its easier said then done. Practicing the five pillars could be extremely hard. I feel that all religions are hard to practice and each religion is different and has a different purpose. I also agree with Keith on how he can not imagine praying 5 times a day. The prayers are not just short prayers I am sure they are very long, just memorizing the prayers must be hard alone.
ReplyDeleteI don't feel that any religion is harder or easier to practice than the other. I feel its all a matter of faith and ones passion to seek guidance from a higher power of existence. It all boils down to the devotion of a religions follower.
